Lancers sprint to girls crown. Shifflett shines as Cosby boys conquer Dominion foes. 

Manchester’s strength in the shorter distances provided the cushion the Lancers needed yesterday to win the Dominion District girls track and field meet at Midlothian.

Midlothian, strong as always in the distance runs, finished second 63 points behind Manchester’s winning total of 195.

The Lancers finished in the first five places in the 100-meter hurdles. Desiree Russell won the 100 and the 200, and Kacen Delphin was first in the 400.

The Midlothian winners were Kathleen Lautzenheiser (1,600), Amy Witt (3,200), Paige Johnston (800) and the 1,600 relay.

On the boys side, Mitchell Shifflett won the 100 and 200 dashes and anchored the 400 winning relay team to lead Cosby to the title.
