Freshman leads girls; pair of seniors propel boys to district title.
The Lee-Davis runners and jumpers swept the Capital District boys and girls track and field meets last night at Sports Backers Stadium.
Montasia Golden, a freshman, led the girls teams with four first-place finishes. On the track, she won the 100-meter dash (12.55), the 200-meter dash (25.91) and the 400-meter dash (1:00.39). In the field, she captured first place in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 35-09. She was fifth in the long jump.
Golden also was selected as the outstanding female runner in the meet.
Two seniors, Antonio Puller and Adam Taylor, led the way for the Lee-Davis boys. Puller had three individual first-place finishes and ran a leg on the winning 400-meter relay team.
Taylor won the shot put (48-0), which was contested on Wednesday, and the discus (150-01)
Puller’s individual victories were in the long jump (21-0), which took place Wednesday, the triple jump (45-2½) and high jump (6-0). Puller was selected as the outstanding field-event performer for the boys.
Neil Matthews, head coach of the Lee-Davis boys and girls teams, won the coach of the year award for both.
The top eight finishers in each event scored, but only the top six advance to the Central Region meet next week.
