Former SunTrust Richmond Marathon champions and U.S. Olympic Trials qualifiers Casey Smith and Maureen Ackerly will speak to Patrick Henry Half Marathon participants during a clinic set for this afternoon (5:30 p.m.) at the Patrick Henry YMCA on Ashcake Road in Ashland.

Smith, who won last year’s SunTrust women’s race in 2:44.57; and Ackerly, who won in 2006 in 2:53.14, will discuss their experiences at last April’s U.S. Olympic Trials in Boston. Neither will run in tomorrow’s 13.1-mile road race through Ashland.

Ackerly’s husband and coach, Ben, will also be available to offer suggestions and strategies for marathon preparation.
