I ran my first SunTrust Marathon 5 years ago. i’m 51 years old, live in CA, born and raised in Richmond. I left Richmond in 1975 to join the Air Force.
My mother has been keeping up with Richmond Marathon for over 20 years. She always goes out to watch but has never known anyone who actually runs the race. She is 73 years old. I decided to run the race for my mother. I ran the Richmond SunTrust once and was hooked. I have been flying out from CA every year for the past 5 years. My 73-year-old mother and 73-year-old father get more enjoyment out of the race than I do.
I started running marathons 6 years ago, up to 35 now, on my way to 50 total.
